| What We Believe |
|
The Connection is a place where life and faith meet. We believe in the message of Jesus Christ and its relevance for every moment of our lives. We talk about Jesus’ message through four relatable concepts: Live Abundantly, Learn Diligently, Laugh Freely and Love Completely.
Jesus said that He came that we could have life, and have it more abundantly! It is God's desire that we have joy each day God has given us. Our abundant life is found in a genuine relationship with God and with others through Jesus Christ. At The Connection we value community and intentionally form those relationships through meaningful corporate worship, authentic life group formation, and encouraging the practice of spiritual disciplines. (John 10:10; Jeremiah 29:11)
God has given us instructions on how to handle everything in life from relationships to finances, raising a family to getting a good job. The Bible says that we perish because we lack God's knowledge; but we begin to experience abundant life as we learn who God is and who God called us to be. We foster continued learning about life and Christ through small group study, educational seminars, relevant weekly sermons, conferences and retreats. Our children’s and youth ministries provide dynamic and entertaining ways to help our children seriously grow in Christ. (Proverbs 3:1-2; 2; Peter 1:3; Hosea 4:6)
The Bible has said it and science has confirmed – Laughter really is good medicine. There is fullness of joy in God's presence and that joy is our strength. It doesn't mean life is always perfect, but it means we can go forward with an attitude of peace knowing God is with us. As we learn to live in God's ways we'll begin to find the freedom to laugh and enjoy life. At The Connection we purposely bring joy and laughter into almost every gathering, notwithstanding our Sunday morning worship. We believe God means for life to be enjoyed and we make it a point to make church a joyous experience.. (Proverbs 17:22; Psalm 16:11; Nehemiah 8:10)
Love is an action verb. We love completely by doing good for others and by telling them about the good life we've found in God through Jesus. By finding our best life in Jesus we also find the freedom and confidence to serve and to share that love with others. The fulfillment of Jesus' message to us is love. As Jesus gave His own life out of love for us, we ought to lay down our lives for others – loving completely. (1 Peter 1:22; 1 Peter 4:8; 1 John 3:16) The Connection is a United Methodist Church.
